Question M.2 SSD Adapter w/ DX79SR

I am looking to increase storage capacity with my DX79SR machine and I have a few PCI-E x1 lanes available on this board. I am looking to install M.2 SSD's using a vertical M.2 Nvme SSD adapter designed to fit the x1 slot. I am not looking to boot from these drives either, so my main question is will I be able to access these drives, with this type of adapter on with this motherboard? Thanks for any insight.
