Hi
Your help, please.
My Lenovo Y700-15isk laptop died. But I intend to reuse the M.2 ssd card 2280 ( samsung mz-nln2560 laptop ssd pcie 256gb m.2 ) from this laptop. As my Asus B85 Vanguard motherboard has no input for an M.2 card, I intend to use an adapter such as the Asus HYPER M.2 X4 MINI CARD, or something similar, and I also intended to use an USB 3.1 type C card adapter. But from what I've read both adapters need to be plugged into the PCI-e x4 slot and I think my motherboard have only one PCI-e x4 slot available. So, is it possible to connect both adapters to the motherboard? The main slot is already occupied by the graphics card. How can I connect both cards at the same time? Will this board accepts an M.2 ssd card through any PCI-e slot? Of course that I accept suggestions from other models of adapters. It does not have to be an Asus adaptor.

Thank you.

Gotta love the m.2 confusion, it can do pci express or sata.

The drive part number samsung mz-nln2560 shows it is SATA interface, so you want the m.2 to 2.5 adapter. If it was PCI express or NVME, then you would want the pci express x4 card.

Use the USB C card in the x4 slot

M.2 is a form factor, not the interface.
Your M.2 drive is SATA it needs to be connected to a SATA controller either the onboard sata ports in a 2.5 inch clamshell converter or a x1 to SATA controller card

samsung mz-nln2560 see in listing it is sata, not pci-express or nvme

Your motherboard has the x1 under the x16, most gpu use 2 slots so that kills the x1. PCI old slot does not have the bandwidth for a converter. x4 is open, but the usb3 3.1 needs more than an x1 channel, 3.1 has x2 lanes minimum for 10Gbps. It might use x4 lanes for two devices, depends on controller.

The sata converter to make the m.2 like a laptop 2.5 drive is the best solution.

Since the x1 is rendered useless by the GPU you cannot use the x1 lane 500Gbps to sata III converter to plug into the motherboard without sacrificing usb3.1
