Question M.2 SSD disappeared from windows randomly but still appears in BIOS?

I recently turned on my desktop and noticed that one of my M.2 drives was gone from file explorer and disk management as well when I checked there. When checking in BIOS it is still listed but windows still does not detect it, so I changed the slot it was in and magically the drive was back. Does anyone have an idea what could have caused this and what I could do to remedy it?
