I was putting together my first build and everything went smoothly until I went to boot it up and install windows 10 from a boot drive. My bios never detected my m.2. I tried taking it out and putting it back in but still nothing. I’m running an Asus tuf b450 m plus and the m.2 is a crucial 500 gb p1. The motherboard was able to detect a SATA drive I had, but I couldn’t install windows on that one as it has some other data I haven’t backed up. Is it likely my m.2 was dead on arrival? I’m not totally sure since this is my first time building

Have you updated the bios on motherboard? See if that helps see drive

When you go to install windows, only have the drive you want it on installed as it gives it less choices. That won't make it see the drive its currently not, but it won't let it put any files onto the other drive either. Win 10 has a habit of putting boot details on extra space if given chance.
