I just wanted to ask if there is any big differences between Samsung 960 EVO and Samsung 850 EVO in boot times (starting up pc and games).

Motherboard : ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS
CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 1600
RAM : 8 GB (16 GB later)

Solution
no. you're talking about maybe two seconds at most, probably less for boot up. Programs will be different and vary by the actual program but don't expect the M.2 PCIe to be instantaneous or anything like that. Both of course will be noticeably faster than the 'ol HDD.

In real world use, M.2 PCIE SSDs aren't considerably faster even though on paper they transfer data MUCH faster. Boot times and loading won't be much faster, but since M.2 SSDs are only barely more expensive most people find it worth it to go M.2 over SATA.

Most M.2 SSD’s are still using Sata, NVMe just means that it is using PCIe to link to the CPU, but if it isnt using that, then it is not an NVMe ssd, even though it could be an m.2 drive.

NVMe SSD’s are much faster than Sata ssd’s It’s a fact, the reading and writing times are virtually instantaneous, because if set up right, you can get up to 8gbps read and write speeds. The problem with NVMe, is that the processor is the bottleneck, so the data is being accessed to fast for the processor to handle, so if you used the fastest processor in the world, or maybe multiple server cpu’s, you would hugely increase boot times, to the extent that they could be instantaneous. The trick with building a pc, is dont invest all your money into one component, its to find the right balance, so by all means you could get a Ryzen 3 1200g, with a gtx 1080ti, but the FPS would be half what a gtx 1080ti is actually capable of. So if you get a slightly slower ssd, with a much faster processor, your boot times would most likely rise.
