not bs...try recomending someone to run xp who has 256 or 128mb of memory?
Point being you could have easily told me that when Windows 95 went out and we had less RAM than recommended, when Win 98 came out, when Windows 2000 came out. WindowsXP is just another normal evolution of more memory, so I think your point is moot.
then look at all the dells and compaqs that ship with 128mb of memory...
True but those are Surfer comps. You don't game on them, you use the net and edit docs. I myself can't even begin to believe there are sad people out there who use 128MB on WinXP, but I will have to concede to the fact that it's enough for surfing and e-mail. (Dell does NOT sell high-ends with 128MB!)
but how many of them does the home user use?
I'm quite an advanced user, but I enjoy the fast connectivity for a Digital Camera. If I don't want to open my Canon program, XP will detect right at the moment I connect the cable, and ask me if I want to use its built-in picture downloading, fast and easy.
Point being there are MANY features people use with XP, and I've seen it all in action.
Other than that you get networking features and security features which most home users do not use
The built-in Firewall is a good basic way to let home users feel safe without tweaking anything.
Additionally WinXP has the easiest network connectivity by far, especially for DSL. DSL users will know what I mean. I don't need to install no more Access Managers from my DSL Company, WinXP has it all and it's 2-3 times faster to connect too! Plus the internet and downloading is faster in general.
so i tryed out 2k3 because it supported hyperthreading...
Um not to disappoint but I believe Windows XP Pro has HT in it, you're a big fool if you got Win 2003 JUST for HT!
😱
EDIT: On second thought I reread what you said. You didn't want XP so you went for 2003. Ok, but still, like I said, 2003 is exactly XP but with networking features, so it was still silly to go for the same functioning OS just for HT.
it had some compatability issues
Pretty much any NT OS made for server purposes will. From what I remember, and I could be wrong, but Win 2000 Advanced server (basically the one that supports huge amounts of servers and comes with a full blown kit of networking features) DOES also have compatibility issues in general with home user apps and games.
Win 2000 PRO doesn't.
I just wanted you to realize you either did not take your time to experience it, or you are just not being completely open to the whole concept of Windows XP. 2003 is exactly XP but with Windows 2000's excellent networking features.
