Hi I have a hp a4327c
Motherboard M2N68-LA (Narra5)
AMD ATHLON II X2 240 2.8 ghz

The hp page( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01959710)says that the CPU is am3, but on the inside it says am2.
Also the page under processor upgrade information says " Only socket AM2+ processors are supported with this motherboard."

I want to upgrade a my cpu but what processor size do I get? Am2 Am2+ or am3?

Or would it be better to upgrade the mother board? I want to get ddr3 ram but can't because the board Has ddr 2 slots

Solution
Nothing is weird here. Athlon ii X2 240 is a AM3 CPU that is also compatible with AM2+ socket. HP a4327c's motherboard uses AM2+ socket, basically a stripped down version of the Asus M2N68-CM ( http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2N68CM/ ) therefor you can put a Phenom II CPU in it, but don't put into a Black Edition one ( or if you do, try to lower the clock of that CPU if you find your system running unstable after upgrading CPU ) because this motherboard doesn't have a great power design to support those power-hungry CPUs.
