I have read a lot of posts about this, but so far, no glory. Put this new comp together yesterday, step by step. On first boot attempt, got no signal from video card. (no on-board video with this mobo either). Also no beeps at all from the PC. I checked all the connections. Seem okay, all fans humming, etc. Tried the Direct-to-BIOS button and got nothing.

I started pulling out parts, checking the memory, removed some of it. Left just one stick. Same thing.

Then I notice the red CPU light. At first I thought "oh, that just means its okay". After reading the manual, turns out that is a bad sign. I pull the CPU, and some of the pins are bent. Ugh. Maybe I didn't seat it right. I try to straighten the pins (I know... a big no no, but I had to try something). Magnifying glass, tiny pins, and carefully straighten them using a needle. Seemed to fit nicely and lock. But, still the CPU light, and no feed to monitor. Memory-OK! button just flashes and never stops.

Is my CPU totally hosed? The PSU only has a 4 pin connection to the CPU power. Does this CPU need the full set of pins from the power? Maybe it is the PSU, but I dunno. I don't have an extra PSU just sitting around.

Thoughts? Specs are below. I would just hate to buy another CPU and find out that isn't the problem at all.,

AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz Socket AM3 plus 6-Core processor, ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 AM3 plus ATX Motherboard, AMD 990X Chipset, 8GB DDR3 1600 memory
Black Ark Technology PA06-LF Mid-Tower ATX Computer Case, with 500W PS2 Power Supply, Front USB 2.0 and; Audio

If it is the fact that I need a 2x4 8-pin 12V connection, I am having a heck of a time finding one to purchase. All I see is 2x2 or 1x8. Any suggetsions?

Solution
Double check the PSU. The CPU power should be 8 pins to connect to the mobo. It might be 1X8 or 2X4. Check the shape of the pin housings to make sure they are connected correctly if it is 2X4. If the PSU doesn't have one of those configurations it's not compatible with this mobo.

It may be that you have the mobo power cable plugged into your graphics card.

The following link shows all the power cables. The mobo connectors start about half way down the page.

Turns out it was CPU. I wasn't careful enough when I seated it the first time, and the pins got bent. I did get a new PSU, but that didn't work. So, got a new CPU. All is well. I was hoping that straightening the pins would work, but no such luck. Lesson learned = be more careful when seating the CPU and fan.
