Hi I have a 2017 13" Macbook Air that might be running hot. Under stress TG Pro reports CPU temps up to 100+ Celsius. Once the fans kick in it drops down a little, IIRC low 90s to 80s or so. 5 years isn't a long time for thermal paste AFAIK... never had computers this old run that hot before. Did Apple go cheap on the paste? Is this a normal operating temperature? Should I definitely have the thermal paste reapplied?
Thanks!

I would deffently redo the thermal paste.... Most people don't realize this and a lot of the time ignore it because they're not aware of these types of things.... But 5yrs is actually quite a long time for thermal paste..... You should rethermal a CPU about once every two years..... Your taking a semi liquid thing and putting it and an item that's gets into the 90c range under load... That liquid will dry out over time some people are normally lucky and yes thermal paste can last for ever but that's typical system users that don't run their system 24/7 unlike me whose PC is literally running 24/7 so that takes life span off the thermal paste.....

@white.a.drew Thanks... how about for PCs with premium thermal paste like home built computers or pre built high end gaming computers? IIRC I read that if you apply thermal paste properly in a situation like that it can last the lifespan of the computer.

Yeah never believe these post..... Yes there are amazing thermal paste out there that can last "up to" the life span of a PC.... But that's again dependent on the user.... If you have a super high end PC that's optimized just right and are a light user it can last quite a long time.... However with things like laptops and prebuilt systems most people boot the PC and call it good.... They don't optimize the system at all because they don't know much about it, and if it works why mess it up trying to tune it to something you like.... From the sounds of things you bought a laptop like it and use it heavily and quite consistently. The issue with that is without any undervolting or systems underclocking or what ever you so choose to do to prolong the system life and other parts of it... Things go bad quickly
