Hi, i've been considering replacing my optical drive with an SSD in my Macbook Pro 13" 2013 model. I just wanted to know whether it is particularly complicated or if its simple enough? I've made PC builds before - just never attempted anything like it on a Mac. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Received wisdom seems to be that you have to put the SSD in the hard drive bay and move the hard drive to the optical bay (else it won't boot). There are a large number of guides and videos if you Google the subject (e.g. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+MacBook+Pro+13-Inch+Unibody+Mid+2012+Dual+Hard+Drive/13787 ), but all seem to relate to 2012 and earlier MBPs. You may want to look at one of these guides and see if your MBP (presumably it is an early 2013 one) is similar enough to the 2012 models for the information to apply.

You can buy these things (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bipra-9-5mm-Second-Laptops-MacBook/dp/B004ZXU72Y/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1425402842&sr=8-10&keywords=ssd+bay) that allow you to put the SSD in the Optical drivebay.

Not what i heard. I heard that booting from it is fairly straight forward.
