Excuse me, I meant Word was developed for Macs first. I agree that Macs won't make it most office settings but I didn't know that's what was meant. It seems that the Outlook syncing and such isn't up to snuff but I know of a few facilites where the only windows machine is a dedicated mail server and outlook email is accessible by anyone of the Macs through Remote Desktop.

Also, desktops computers have been in offices ever since they debuted, but it's only in the last 10 to 12 years that everyone has had one in their home, using them to access the internet. I mean everyone. For the home, an Intel Mac will do just fine for most users.

just to make myself clear, my problem is not with macs and their capabilities as such, mainly the company that owns them and how they protray themselves to the public in general. if they were honest and didn't resort to such measures then i wouldn't have much against them. i still wouldn't buy them as they come across as too locked up and obviously i am a gamer so that rules them out.

stil, my problem is with their marketing. that is all.

I really have to admit that I haven't seen this much "Macs suck!" opinions for awhile... People seem to have a problem with these things, don't they? I admit, I use a Mac. I have a MacBook Pro, the first Intel- based edition. I like it. I also have a year-or-so old Pc, I like it.
I agree, the ads are terrible. But so what?
You can't game as much with a mac? Don't care.
Terrible ads? I agree.
Not all mac-users are those who don't care about things like "How computers work" etc. I do. I use my mac because I like using it and I use my Pc 'cause I use it to do stuff that I cant do with my mac. I built my pc myself. And I don't know the point of this post anymore, I just thought that I should contribute something to this discussion, even if I lost the point that I was trying to make

And now I will take cover for the inevitable barrage of anti-mac posts that are coming my way (Flame war NOT intended)

A MAC is a PC (Personal Computer)!

A PC is not just an IBM Compatible PC.

Are MAC users so stupid that they think that a MAC is not a PC?

The IBM-PC are easier to upgrade, have a ton more software, and are cheaper.

If the FAT ad said "Im a MAC and Im a IBM-PC you get from QVC with 1000 Programs that are 10 years old and no one uses."

Then that would be true

But My"PC" has no Trial software on it, Its not full of junk

I think the real issue hear isn't mac versus windows.
It's the increasing use of negative advertisement to gain approval.
Just like politicians and really any consumer product, one should describe why their product is good not just describing the ways in which the other product is bad. it is terrible that apple has resorted to these means to move more macs. at one time they described the benefits of their product.

and as a side note, you only advertise what you're not selling enough of.
