Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-HD3
RAM: GoodRam Play 2x4GB 1666 MHz

I came home from work, booted up my PC, it shut down after ~2 secs after pressing the power button, I thought it was just a random power problem or something, booted it again, then a message showed on the screen saying "UEFI Dual BIOS | Main BIOS is corrupted. Restoring BIOS (...)". I let it finish, then it restarted, showed the manufacturer logo, two fast POST beeps and just a line of text consisting of random characters like smiley faces, clovers, you know. It was so strange, I dealt with it by going to BIOS, restoring optimized defaults and setting my SSD as the first boot device (instead of [defaulted after reset] DVD drive).
It is working fine now, but I would really like to know what caused this problem. Can you guys help?

Btw, yesterday I switched to a new display (I think it does not really have an impact on what has happened though) and about a month ago my GPU went dead so I am currently using the amazing Intel HD 4600

One more thing I remembered, after it shut down the first time and before BIOS message the screen showed something like screens with broken matrixes show for a quarter of a sec (colorful vertical stripes)

It sounds like exactly what it said. Your onboard bios got corrupted. Fortunately, Gigabyte has a builtin backup bios feature that it restored from that resolved the issue for your instantly, or else you would have had a lot more problems.
