So I had accidentally deleted a few files off my NVMe SSD boot drive and was using Disc Drill to recover them. As it was scanning the drive something happened and my OC rebooted. After that, any program installed on that drive as well as several Windows functions stopped working (task manager, disc management, etc) and would have the error "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. Can't open (whatever)"
I eventually rebooted in safe mode to access Disc Management and set C drive back to active. While this fixed a great deal of my issues it's like my PC misplaced or can't find several programs.
For example I have Logitech mouse and keyboard controlled by LGHub. Normally I have different mouse configurations depending on what I am working on and it will autoswitch the settings as I moved between programs and games. Now it shows more than half of the programs/games I had custom settings for as being "NOT INSTALLED" while even those it does "see" it still wont use their key profile. Even when manually set to be using a custom profile it will swap back to default immediately.
Another issue is I can't use the search on the taskbar, right click anything on the taskbar, and several programs I had pinned there are missing their icon. For example with Google Chrome, when I click their missing icon the program still opens and runs but if I select that program in task manager and choose "Open File Location" the folder that opens has "This PC > Local Disk (C > Program Files > Google > Chrome > Application" in the address bar but if go to "C:\Program Files\" there is no folder for Google. Retuning to the address bar and selecting it changes the destination path to "C:\found.001\Google\Chrome\Application" though once again cannot find any Folder in "C:" called "found.001"
Just what have I done to my PC? Does anyone know how to fix this? Starting to get REALLY frustrated so any help would be appreciated.
