Question Major FPS drop across all games

Model:HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 840M
RAM: 8GB Samsung 1600MHz
OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
i added another 8GB Samsung 1600MHz to my pc and since then all of the games have been dropping frames
cannot get more fps than 20. The BIOS is up to date and i have tried reinstalling graphic drivers but it did not affect the fps

Hey there,

So, when you take out the extra 8gb, does it work as normal? It could be that your new ram is not playing nicely with your system.

You can test your ram with memtest86+, and using a usb drive. Test your ram, and if there any failures, then you know the ram is the issue.

i got the ram removed hoping the pc would go back to normal, but the performance is still the same, everything laggy and crashes a lot,
i also try formtting it but it did not help the situation
