So if I have my system powered on a lot and I have 2 hard drives, a 56x cdrom and a 4x2x24 rewriter installed with the Tbird 800 overclocked (hopefully) on a Asus A7V, what FAN should I buy? I'm also thinking about upgrading my power supply from 230 to 300.

I'm about to purchase the Tbird and Asus soon and want to get the right fan for the job.

If you don't mind noise the fop38 is a great fan. I use the fop32-1 with artic silver and all is go here... Stay away from the orbs if you want to overclock by much. And yes you need a good 300w power supply. Stability starts with the power supply.... Also get some decent pc133 ram another reason for stability problems....

I use the Alpha PAL6035 with the Sunon 30cfm fan, not loud, on a 1.2Ghz CPU overclocked to 1370mhz without overheating. My temps on the Abit KT7A are 35C idle, max 54C under full load. I have used the Global Win FOP 38, very, very loud indeed. The only reason it cools well is the massive fan it uses. I put a slightly smaller fan on it and the temps went up +5C. Stay away from the Kanie Hedgehog Copper heatsink, it is very heavy, and needs a massive fan to cool well like the Global Win FOP38. The Alpha PAL6035 has worked the best for me. I use Arctic Silver thermal compound too, which helps a little more in the transfer of heat, but is not necessary over other compounds. Your 800mhz should be able to reach at least 1Ghz without anything more than the voltage being raised to 1.85V. I would recommend a good name brand 300W power supply. Look at AMD's recommend power supply list and you will see many good units listed. When you look at the list, be sure to specifiy 1.2Ghz CPU so you get a unit that will be capable of future demands, not just current. I use the Sparkle Power FPS300GT units in my 1370mhz system without a hitch. Happy Overclocking!

I am going to say, yes, I think a loud fan will annoy me. Also, the RAM I have is a 256 MB PC100/133 chip and I also have a 128 MB PC100 chip
