Making Squash Breads Question

I have always made zucchini bread by simply shredding the squash. When given some acorn and butternut squash recently from a neighbor however, I went looking for bread recipes with those squash. The recipes all call for first baking, then pureeing the squash. Is it really necessary to go thru all that? Couldn't I just shred them raw like I do the zucchini?

Oh, it does fall into this Hobbies Forum.
But that link is dedicated to 'cooking'...lol

As good as we are with PC's, they are that good with cooking.

Acorn squash is much "tougher" and need to be baked to tenderize it enough to eat or puree.

You might consider micro-waving it as a "compromise" with regards to the initial cooking requirements.

In any case, seconding the posts regarding going to a food forum....
