[citation][nom]christop[/nom]He looks like a total dork in that pic and is his hair fake or what?[/citation]
He can look as dorky as he wants. He has been a great asset to many educational programs and poverty stricken areas. It shows a role model to those kids that itsn't all glitz, glamour, and image. So I say looking dorky is a plus.

You think looking cool and trendy is important?

How much did that HK businessman pay to have dinner with Warren Buffett? $35K from an employee for charity, man, i can only say he really believes in what his working for! Kudos

...and in other news, the FSF copies Microsoft. Richard Stallman has auctioned a tour of his mom's basement. The tour sold to the highest bidder for $0.00 as it was free. The tour is to be conducted by Stallman himeself and includes an executive lunch which consists of Dorito's chips and a toe-jam dip made my Stallman. The winner will will also get to see a 40-node NUMA cluster made up of Intel 8086's running as a firewall. He will also get to see a demo of wobbly windows, but no sound as ALSA still does not work.

Stallman will match the bid and is quoted saying, "I feel I need to match the bid as this is akin to the contribution the FSF has made to the industry".

It is also rumoured that the lucky bidder will get to experience Stallman's GNU/Sauce as it is the same experience you get using FOSS product.

Happy bidding.

I understand its a counter intuitive (therefore hard for you morons to understand)concept....BUT..GEEEEEZ... You guys do realize that the largest money shovels at the top of the pyramid need to to be philantropic in order to keep this unbalanced materialistic game of "climb the ladder to nowhere" rolling. They are just in essence throwing down some "seed" money, "a million here, 30 thousand there", its all just peanuts to them and in the long run keeps the poor poorer and the rich richer...

Bill doesn't get it, Warren definitely doesn't get it... But, the guy that designed this ladder... HE GOT IT...

The road to hell is paved with good intentions..

Think of it as job security. Microsoft just finished laying off thousands of workers. If you donate a large portion of money to the chairman's charity and get to talk to the guy for a little while then you are a lot less likely to be cut in the future.

[citation][nom]chowmanga[/nom]It wasn't his money, it was an employee's money. If Bill's already donating more for education than anyone else as you said, why ask him for more? I think Bill shows that even wealthy people are still human and can be humble.[/citation]
You would be quite shocked to find out just how many super rich people never donate a penny to charity - unless it serves them a very specific purpose (tax benefits anyone?). Bill and his wife do more for charity than you know...

For $100 I will give you a tour of my house, 10 - 15 minutes tops and I'll make you a nice P&J sandwich with a drink of your choice. The funds go to the This Economy Sucks and I Have to Feed My Cat and Dog Fund.

it will take a lifetime for me to earn $35,000 to see mr. billgates house 🙁
