S0 I bought a new switch, a TP Link T1500, it has on the bottom an IP-address + the login credentials for the web interface. Yet when I enter the address 192.168.0.1 it will not pop up, this is the same whether its plugged into the existing network or not. I've reset too yet no results.

Anyone got any tips for this as its driving me insane now!

Solution
Yes temporarily if the TP link is statically set to 0.1, that way you are on the same network and should be able to connect to it via 0.1
If for example your network is 192.168.1.0/24 you wont be able to route to 192.168.0.0/24 without a static route setup which may be preventing current access.
What does your current network use for its IP block?

You might want to disconnect your computer from your network, and plug it into the switch, and manually set your computer's IP address to something like 192.168.0.2 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0, and you should be able to then login, and either enable DHCP or set a different static IP.

Okay, that makes sense

it seemingly will still not load up even with these settings

It is set on port 1 now with no incoming connection connected

scan your subnet or the one you think it's on with nmap or ipconfig to find the online hosts.

if it's not showing on your current subnet try and ping it if you think you know the ip.

At layer 2 it doesn't care if you setup the switch on the wrong subnet. At layer 3 you will have issues. You should be able to get to it's page if you can figure out the ip. make sure the pc you're using is on the same switch and not going through the gateway.

If you have two devices with the same ip then you will need to change one so you can get in the other.

Thank you, everyone, for your help, as normal the solution turned out to be extremely simple yet a little weird.

I stated at the start that i had tried setting myself into the .o.2 pool of addresses which led to no change.

Here i was in the right area just not the close enough, that must have been conflicting with something as when i set my ip to 192.168.0.100 it worked

so the lesson is, try it more than once!

so i have gotten into the console and moved it into my current ip pool and it works on the normal network now

sorry for being so damn stupid on this 😀 , i guess that's what get fr trying this at 10 o clock at night

thanks again

Elliot
