Ok so my buddy works at a place, and he gets big intel deals twice a year. these deals are within 50$ usd, and both really are cheap as hell.
He's got deals on:
i7 6850k
i7 7700k (also a mobo deal for 7th gen but its seperate)

I'm making a new gaming build, mines 4 years old now. And the 6850k is cheaper, so i was just gonna get that, kinda looked better (to me) on paper and such. Was wondering if the 7700k is really that much better for gaming.

Was wanting some input on what i should actually get. Both would clearly do just fine, but what one would do me better justice. was wanting to get into streaming too just as a side note.

Thanks in advance

i7 6850k is better at almost everything than i7 7700k, there's no reason to get 7700k, when 6850k is for you even cheaper. In games, 7700k is better, because few games can now support more than 8 threads, and 7700k cores are faster than the 6850k cores, so it has around 5 FPS more than the 6850k. And if you want to stream, 6850k is clearly much better choice.

Did you just say the 6850k is better at everything, then immediately admit the 7700k was better at gaming?

The other concern. Even if the 6850k is cheaper a board that supports it would likely take the system cost above that of a 7700k. Personally for less money I'd probably take a 6850k but there really isn't a wrong choice

Thanks for warning, I updated my reply. Boards that supports 6850k are slowly loosing on price and have more features, for example there are motherboards with 8 DIMM slots, 8 SATA ports and 3-way SLI support for $190.
