Marks on cpu

So I'm building my first pc and am a complete noob. I have so far installed the motherboard, cpu, and cpu stock cooler because waiting on some other parts. Anyways, a friend of mine actually gave me a better cpu cooler. When I removed the old cpu cooler and thermal paste I noticed some marks that have been created by me putting too much pressure on the cooler. Did I fuck up and have to buy a new cpu or am I okay???

Those marks can't prevent the CPU from working properly. Did you at least test it or are you assuming that you broke it?
