The original Eee PC was supposed to sell for $199, too. That didn't happen. Not even close. As I recall, it cost $299 when it actually shipped and that was with a reduced spec.

These price bait and switches happen all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing costs $250.
 
It's also capable of full 1080p HD playback

I wonder what is a better proof of consumers' cluelessness "7 megapixel" cameras in handies or "full HD" playbacks of devices with small screens.
 
This thing costs less than 4 of my 5 textbooks I had to buy this semester. This is a great idea, if they bring the textbook prices down some(~50 instead of ~150) it is one of the better ideas I have seen in a while.
 
I paid $70 for the online version of one of my text books. You still are going to get robbed regardless. I would take a guess that it only costs them 30-40 to print a large textbook anyway.

No way this would work very well pre-college. Every class you would have to count how many people have broken ones. Half of my friends can't even keep a cellphone for a year(some it seems 6months) and they are in college.
