Hello

Anyone else experienced weird spikes/drops in FPS ?

As and exsample: On the tempest at the "debriefing area" I get 40 fps. At the science/fire strike area 75 fps. At the medic bay 85 fps etc.

This is also representative in the open world exploration going from 55 fps to high as 90 fps.

System: I7-7700K - None OC
EVGA GTX 1080 TI FE
kingston hyperx fury ddr4 2133 MHz
Installed on none SSD

Game setting: Ultra / Maxed out all setting at 1080 with res. scaling to 1.5

Utilization and system info:

CPU running at stock 4.5 Ghz at 43°C 30 to 50% load on cores
GPU 95 to 99% at 75°C a minor OC / No extra voltage

Spyglass 3d Mark score: Graphic 10560 / CPU: 5600
Firestrik 3d mark: GPU 29400
Cinebench: 1006

Any fix or is the game "broken" atm?

Hmm not sure, game probably does need better optimization but putting it on an SSD would probably help a bit, might help even more if you put it on an SSD that isn't also running windows. Only other thing you can do really is just put the settings down to very high or whatever the next one down from ultra is, ultra settings usually don't do much anyway.

Judging from this - the GPU is struggling with the load.
Try turning off res.scaling.
Play around with graphics quality options. Ambient Occlusion and Lighting quality settings have biggest impact on fps.

It should fix lag spikes. The faster the drive the less background processes will interfere with the game.

I dont exsperience any spikes or sudden drops in the FPS. It more or less hover around the same FPS ±5%. It's more the areas that affect the FPS, like the tempest example in my thread.

It's either the settings I need to play with or wait for a patch/driver update.

Hi Mike!

Okay so i think i found a solution to this. I have been playing around with the settings a ton and found out it is not the lighting quality, shadows, ambient occlusion, or AA. It is the effects quality. I usually get large fps spikkes on nexus and tempest sometimes to the 30's and when i cut effects quality from ultra to high, the 30 fps went up to 60 like butter. Please let me know if you get the same effects if you cut effects quality down.

System:
i5 - 4670k @ 4.4 ghz
16gb corsair vengeance
z87 from asrock
gtx 1070 ftw edition from evga with 200 mhz overclock (2.1 ghz) and 500 mhz mem overclock and +60 mv
corsair h100i
samsung 850 pro with

Game settings:
1080p
TAA
HBAO
everything ultra except effects, terrain, lighting, and vegetation.
triple buffering on

It seems the newly released patch did some wonders.

Getting alot more FPS and better stability.

I actually found this out today after the patch released. Did cutting effects doen help much?

If EA helped a little more with the funding, the game could be much better in a lot of ways. I mean even half life 2's budget was 52 million in todays money

EA is a joke. Lol.
That's a whopping $12m more, of course it's going to be better. It was still kinda buggy though.

No doubt about that. Almost feel bad for bioware lol. I hope they keep good content coming though.
