massive kyro 2 review:

3DConcepts have posted what seems to be a new and very long KYRO2 review. The review is in German so the majority of you are going to have to use a translator I'm afraid.

The original can be found http://www.3dconcepts.de/reviews/3dprophet4500/

A translated version through Lycos can be found here. Heh, the translator is on form as usual throwing up such little gems as "ST and ImgTec blaesst now to the assault on the GeForce2 GTS bastion" http://translation.lycos.com/?lp=de_en&urltext=http://www.3dconcepts.de/reviews/3dprophet4500/&submit=Translate&partner=demo-Lycos2-en

thanks john

Thanks for the translaton link, I was finally able to read that mammoth report. I like the part with Nvidia T&L test of DMZG the non hardware T&L card (Kyro2 of course) smoked the GF2 and the Radeon, go figure and LOL too. This is a must read for anybody looking for a graphics card in the $100-150 range. That report clearly shows the Kyro2 smoking the MX cards hands down besides the Radeon and GF2's in a number of benchmarks. The FSAA analysis showed a superior ability in the Kyro2 in less performance hit. Well if it did Linux I would have bought one, now I am stuck with a MX400 (which should work good in Linux) in my second computer. The Kyro2 just keeps on looking better and better.

I don't know man. The last review on Radeon LE shows that the GTS constantly beats the kyro II except in a few benchmarks.

Sh!t Happens.

This really shows how slight variations in testing can have dramatic difference in the results between review sites. In performance as in FPS I think it would be really hard to tell these cards apart if you where playing them. Now the quality of the Image I think would be a different story in which I think the hat would go to the Radeon. FPS shouldn't be the only criteria to judge a card, it is easy to just look at FPS but 3d is more then FPS nowdays. Then again the FSAA of the Kyro2 is better than the Radeons. The low price of the Radeon LE to me is the real selling point plus the higher quality image ability in 2d, DVD and 3d. Maybe not the fastest but fast enough to have smooth game play on virtually any game. The more I look at each card the harder it is for me to recommend any card because each one has good advantages and bad. I just bought a MX400, reason, excellent Linux support. I have a Radeon VIVO Retail and I love the card. My 2 cents worth.
