Mauve "screen" over downloaded photos

I just bought a canon rebel eos T6i.
The pictures I took yesterday looked great when viewed in the camera.
When downloaded to the PC, there was a mauve "screen" over the whole photo.
If you know how to remove the "screen" to unmask the true colors please share how.

I found the answer to my own question.
The photos were CR2 files. For future photos, I changed the camera quality setting from RAW to jpeg.
I still have to convert the pictures.

What photo editing software were/are you using? Most modern software should be able to handle RAW files. Unless you are concerned with space on your SD card I would recommend using the mode that records both a RAW image and JPEG. You will be losing some image quality going from RAW to JPEG.

I can't figure out how Picasa converts the Memorial weekend pics/CR2 files to JPEG.

Happy to answer. I just didn't want you to miss out on the RAW images which contain more image data than a jpeg. At some point you may have photo editing software that will allow you to edit RAW images.
