What is the maximum cable length that can be used from PC to monitor (HDMI / DP / USB).

Wondering if there is any downside to longer cable lengths? Can longer cable length damage my monitor input section?
I remember coming across 6 feet or something like that being the recommended length for HDMI.

Whether we're talking about HDMI (also the version of HDMI), DP and USB, all have different characteristics. A proper reply would be a truly great wall of text.

Generally, the longer the cable, the more you need to worry about signal degradation. The latest HDMI, version 2.1, the longest you want a cable to be is 10 feet. You'll also want a "certified" HDMI 2.1 cable as there's fakes out there. That is usually of concern when you want to take full advantage of what HDMI 2.1 offers. Aka, 4K 120hz or 8K 60 Hz at 4:4:4 10 bit color.

To add more confusion to the mix, if you need to go above 10 feet, there's something called active cables

The higher the resolution, refresh rate, along with color settings, the more bandwidth the cable will need to provide - reliably.
