I am having a Samsung Laptop and I want to find the maximum amount of RAM it supports?

WHAT CONFUSES ME IS:

1. Samsung product specification tells like it has total 2 RAM Slots and supports upto 8 GB.

2. When I run CPU-Z, Pirform Speccy etc in my laptop, these applications are telling like my laptop has " Total memory slots 4
Used memory slots 1
Free memory slots 3"

3. Finally I contacted customer support and the service representative told like it may support 16GB.

Soooo confusing, how can I find the Supported RAM capacity?

The Configuration is

Model : Samsung NP350V5C-S0BIN.
CPU : Intel Core i5 3230M @ 2.60GHz (Ivy Bridge 22nm Technology)
Chipset : Intel HM76.

Thanks.

Don't worry about it too much. 8GB of RAM is plenty for that laptop.
Its not an ideal system for something that uses more than 8GB of RAM like video editing anyway.

However at a guess based off my own system you will be able to use 2x8GB of RAM at max. laptop i5s do not support 4 sticks of RAM.

My laptop is a i7 4700MQ and it maxes out at 2x8GB although I never bothered to buy the second stick as 8GB turned out to be enough for gaming.

Hi Justin,

"However at a guess based off my own system you will be able to use 2x8GB of RAM at max. laptop i5s do not support 4 sticks of RAM."

So are you telling that 16GB is the maximum capacity?

If i5 laptops do not support 4 sticks of RAM, then why all these applications like CPU-Z etc (i believe these are some standard benchmarking applications) are showing like 4 slots available out of which 1 slot is used?

Apologies I was wrong about the max memory but right about only having two slots. The intel page has all you need.

You can buy 2x16GB if you want, but I honestly would not recommend more than 2x8GB of RAM in that computer.
There is no real benefit to you having more than 16GB of RAM.

I have no idea why CPU Z is showing that number. If you open up the RAM slots on the computer you will be able to see for yourself how many RAM slots there are, but the chipset does not officially support more than two RAM slots.

Apologies again. I made a huge mistake. If you open it up and see it has four RAM slots you can have up to 32GB of RAM in that laptop by putting 8GB of RAM in all four slots. Then you can run it in dual channel mode with two sticks of RAM in each channel.

If RAM speed is important to you either two sticks of RAM or four sticks of RAM will provide the optimal speed.

My mistake was I was getting dual channel mode mixed up with available RAM slots.

Thanks.

I can tell you that it does work. Just make sure you purchase similar speed DDR3L. I did the upgrade myself and it worked perfectly.
