maximus vi formula middle slot

Hi , i would like to know if graphics card is installed in the middle slot , will it run x16?
Kinda stupit question but couldn't find a clear answer to it,
reviews say first slot x16 second x8 (guessing sli) but both x16
as im building a watercooling computer middle slot would be easier and more beautiful
but hopefully not in expence of performance.

If you are only using one slot it should run at 16x.

Good question, as this is something that varies depending on how the motherboard manufacturer decide to wire up their boards.

In this particular case, no, sadly it will not run at x16 mode in the middle slot. If you take a close look at the second x16 slot, you can see that the electrical contacts only cover half the length of the slot, indicating it's limited to x8 mode.

Here's a picture of the board without its armor where you can compare the first and second x16 slots; you can see that the electrical contacts only run up till the halfway point in the second x16 slot.
