Question Maximus vi Hero died ?

Hi, my PC recently just stop working and I was trying to find out what was the cause of the problem and I think I narrow down to something to do with the EATX12V plug. When I disconnect the power to the EATX12V plug on the motherboard, the fan and power will turn on. So what does the EATX12V do?

asus maximus vi hero
NH-U12S cpu fan
g.skill ripjaws x ddr3 2133 cl19
Corsair AX760i
MSI GTX 770

Hi, It powers the CPU and CPU cooler. One of them might short the board.

Please post your entire system specification including PSU make and model.
Can you elaborate on what happened when it stopped working?
When you say it stops working, does nothing happen when you press the power button? Lights? Fans etc?

The EATX12V is your CPU power, absolutely needed.

I dont know if I testing it correctly, but when the EATX12V was unplug, the stock fan turns... so I thought it may be the processor and I when to get a 2nd hand lower-end processor just to test, still the same...

Have you tested different power supply too with the new CPU?
It could be a faulty board too.

it just wont power up the next day. It power-up for last then a min and then just wont power up since then

it was running for years before it die. So I think the power supply should not be the problem.
