Hi, hope you can help.

Ive just finished building my new system, which has a
single sparkling new Maxtor Diamondmax 300G Sata hard
drive.

I attempted to install my new retailed XP (No SP) home,
but after the stage where it formats the drive, I can no
longer access the disk.

Basically the Bios comes up and does not detect it
anymore.

If I turn the machine off physically I get a flash on
screen that says its identified. Then I go through a
whole process of waiting to be told
"disk read error" and told to CTR ALT DEL. Which does
exactly the same again.

Any ideas. I googled and tried to find help but only got
some vague stuff. Unfortunately it was a bit over my head.

Any basic answer would be appreciated. Because Ive been
building myself up for my new machines launch, and I dont
want to have to go and put a 2nd smaller hard drive in.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I dont get the option to do that. I have a Epoch board with the 250 chipset.

However, when I connect the HD to the SATA port, the bios still shows it as
an IDE Master after my 2 cd and dvd drives.

The driver disk that come with the board does not allow me to load anything.

Cheers
