The compact wired keyboard is very... well compact. Dimensions wise it is the same as the compact wireless keyboard, but you need to deal with a thin cord. Never an issue for me really. The keyboard is absolutely tiny, I love it because I have never needed to use the numberpa on the computer. Just is very annoying if you use Windows/Linux on the machine because it lacks a Print Screen button.

It's a very small keyboard, if you can tolerate a little cord I would go with it. (unless you intend to move it around, reason being that it would probably be easier as you do not have to change batteries and the wired keyboard has a USB hub.

I think Apple may have a point, unfortunately. Your weather is regularly hot and humid and I think that why you're hearing more of the fan. The MBA depends more on the fan than the MBP. :??:

What would you suggest I might do to remedy this problem?I really made a big error in buying this MBA

Hmmm...yeah, I imagine it overheating. Marv, are you completely positive the reseller won't take it back? If positive, put it up for sale. MacBook Airs are still popular and you should be able to sell it without too too much loss.

This is what I am doing now I have it here on the classified websites. The reseller sucks here.I want to get the Mac Mini badly. thanks

How do you know the Mac Mini wouldn't have worse fan noise? ...and if you got one and it did, what would you do?

P.S. I've auditioned a 2010 Mac Mini and I don't believe the fan noise to be worse. The 2011 models are not likely any louder, just be cautious.

thanks for the advice. This MBA is only 64HD the fan is small where as the Mac Mini is 500HD where there is more room to the fan to circulate and the processor is higher also.

Interesting. So you feel that the 11" MBA having 64GB flash storage and the Mac Mini's 500GB hard drive have a bearing on this noise level. I think its just the MBA's anorexic chassis. ...yeah the Mac Mini's more portly size does give it a little more room, however, theoretically, the hard drive would generate more heat than the 64GB of flash storage in the MBA. Anywho, the Mini is a quieter machine.

Yeah, I think you're right...but in a way I wasn't too off. The anorexic chassis has necessitated an anorexic fan cooling a mighty-mouse CPU.

Apple charges good money for their products let them put in a decent fan not some junk!

I can't quite agree. Us American workers are comparatively spoiled. We typically make more than our foreign brothers for the same labor. If Apple had to pay us an US competitive wage their products would likely cost even more and folks would complain even more about the price. I'm not sure its fair to expect Apple to take such a profit hit to bring jobs back home, after all, they do have a responsibility to their share holders. Also, while we suspect that the foreign workers building Apple products don't have the best conditions or pay are the conditions and pay better they do have better than what they would have if they weren't building any Apple products at all? Perhaps so...perhaps not.

Maybe if their products were made in the U.S. the quality control would be much better and not break down a lot.

Perhaps...but products would be significantly more expensive (if the company is to maintain its profit margin). So, if Apple's products were made in the US, they'd be more expensive or they'd have poorer quality components since they labor would be more tremendously more expensive (to keep costs the same). TBH, I've not had any problems with Apple's quality control...their products have been high-quality, IME.

Perhaps if the American worker were not so high and mighty with their wages more stuff would be made in the states.

Perhaps, but its a standard of living that has been a long long time in the making. I can't imagine it'll change anytime soon without even more economic hardship than the US currently faces.

You are an intelligent chap what is the answer now to this economy?getting back to Apple what should I do with this clunker I own meaning the MBA 64HD? thanks mary

I agree the wars were a hint waste of money. Regarding this MBA I am trying to sell it so far no buyers. One proposal is $700 which is bullshit to me.
