I am trying to find a used MB that I can use with my i5 6500 CPU. I am very confused.
I think MB's w/ an LGA1151 socket have a model number with a 1, 2, or 3 following a letter.
I think MB's w/ an LGA1151 socket have a model number with a 1, 2, or 3 following a letter.
- Does the first number in the MB model number (like MSI Z270M) refer to the chipset?
- Does the chipset determine which generation Intel CPU can accommodate?
- Is the newer chipset offer a perceptible advantage to the user or is it strictly an engineering issue?
