MB/RAM not working right

Motherboard is not using all my RAM properly. I have two sticks, one eight GB and one four GB, the MB detects both, but only shows that 8192GB is available, however, when booting into Windows, it only uses 4096GB. They're run in single channel, and have the same clocks (halved though, out of my control). I've tried cleaning the slots and the RAM itself, to no avail. There are no bent pins on my CPU either (Ryzen 1700). Anybody else have similar issues, or any solutions/tips? Help is greatly appreciated, as having to go out and replace the MB and RAM will be quite pricey. Thanks.

Memory manufacturers don't guarantee such combinations to be compatible together.

Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. Other combinations you decide to create are done on a "Do it yourself" compatibility testing basis with no guarantees.
