I'd like to replace my Intel D850MV board with an Iwill P4R533-N board. It will allow me to tweak the settings a bit and maybe upgrade to a newer CPU.

I'm wondering if Windows 2000 will be able to handle it without a clean install. The Iwill uses the 850E chipset while the Intel board uses the 850. The Intel drivers appear to be the same, but I'm never sure with "integrated drivers".

I'll need to check out the LAN drivers, etc. but I intend to use the same aux. hardware so all those drivers should be OK. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the help,

BW

It might work, it really depends on the layout of components on the board and which other components are used.

By the way, the i850 and i850E are the same chipset, no difference at all. The i850E label simply means you're getting an i850 that's been tested at a higher bus speed.

Thanks Crash,

Sounds like I should give it a try after doing some basic memory testing, etc. to see if the used Iwill board is otherwise OK.

Already tryed something similar and worked for me.
I went in hardware manager, right clicked and selected scan for hardware change.
It was really smooth.

Good luck!
