Okay, this is driving me nuts. Whenever I go to avsforums.com (legit audio/video forum), I am now getting this weird McAfee popup that punts me out of whatever thread i'm viewing. I have run anti virus scans, uninstalled anything McAfee on my system. Ran Tron cleaner on my laptop to wipe out anything that the antivirus software wasn't finding. But nothing seems to help. What could possibly be on my system causing this?

In Chrome, try this for me:

1) Head over to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Site Settings -> Notifications. Scroll down to the "Allowed to send notifications" section. If there's anything there that you don't recognise or trust then remove the entry.

2) If that doesn't help then open a Chrome Incognito Window. Does the problem exist there? If it doesn't then the culprit is almost certainly a Chrome extension, so again, remove any that you don't recognise or trust. If you're in any doubt, disable it.

Its because you're spelling it wrong and falling into one of those misspelling traps. Its avsforum.com there's no s after the m.

Yeah this must be it. But I don't see any option to delete it?

I ran a malware bytes scan yesterday, after doing the comprehensive Tron scan. Also tried another virus scan as well (AV something or other). It quarantined a few things, but the issue remained. Weird thing is, it is literally just that website (and just that laptop).

At work now so will have to check the DNS server when I get home.

But it does look like whatever that middle entry is on the Site Security, is what is causing the issue. I.e., that has the McAfee symbol.

Well, seleted everything under the Site settings section. Still happening. Again, only with that one site , and only on this laptop regardless of browser, which is fascinating to me.

DNS server is set to my router 192.168.1.1
