Been fighting this for 3 days now. My wireless works fine at home, but will not connect while I'm at work. It endlessly says identifying no access even with 5 bars of connectivity. I've reset router and my network on and off restarted computer endlessly can't seem to figure it out. I'm running windows 7 64 bit and it literally just started on Tuesday. Worked fine on Monday at work and now won't connect. I'm attaching IPConfig statistics. Says media disconnected and haven't found a way to get it back connected. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Okay there is something confusing here and I think you need to help clarify.

You have a Home network (as in at your home) that is physically wired into the PC (Ethernet Cord) Correct, because that is what your showing here.

Now you want to connect wireless to a Work network (isn't that physically someplace else? i.e. NOT in your house?).

If you had the Work network at your home (Work at Home) you can't connect to two different networks at the same time like that (one wired one wireless) as this confuses Windows and causes all sorts of 'under the hood' issues. While you may have made it work, what you weren't realizing is how it was messing things up 'under the hood' until like now it 'broke'. That is NOT the samething as VPN (Be on your HOME network and over that network create a VPN tunnel to a Work network on the same PC).

Now I do see (looking up) Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.209.249 listed, this isn't a normal IP but does show a connection. It looks like it is 'connecting' but the Work Router (I assume) isn't authorizing a IP for some reason. Whom supports your Work equipment? Have you contacted your employer's IT department? They would be the best source on how to resolve alot of your issues

Guess maybe I didn't clarify the best. When I first started here at my company I brought in my laptop(and do every day) I probably just clicked it as a home network when I first started logging in here. It's not technically my "home" network. The weird thing is if I go home and open up my laptop it connects instantaneously to my actual home wireless network I don't have to be tethered to Ethernet, but here at work if I don't have Ethernet cord hooked up I can't get on the internet it shows 5 bars of connectivity, but says limited access and shows what I originally posted. Any ideas on that?? We are a small enough company(property management) that we don't have IT guys so I'm trying to troubleshoot it(while i'm at work shhhh don't tell lol).

Also, up until 3 days ago I was able to connect wirelessly here at work without any problem. No drops (every once in awhile), but it was a simple fix. Go turn off the router and restart it. It can't be my computer as it works at home no problem, and I don't think it's a router issue as there's a girl in my office (literally 5 feet away) on the wireless internet with her Mac. So I'm perplexed to say the least. I googled somethings and ended up deleting Bonjour files that I found on my computer, but that didn't fix anything so as of now i'm ready to for the weekend and a beer :)

Your issue is one that requires a in person visit by a professional to determine the issue. I understand your BYOD (Bring your own Device) and understand the confusion. The solution can be ANY number of things, but can't really be nailed down over a forum, as this involves multiple networks and configurations that would require on hand information you wouldn't be technically savvy enough to ascertain.

I would look either to speaking to your Management about looking for whomever supports the computer / Internet (say the manager's computer caught fire, whom would they get to replace it and try to recover the files? If the Internet suddenly went off whom is responsible for it? etc.) about your issue, or hire someone to come in and address it in person to determine the 'differences' between why your wireless can't connect but someone else's in the same office does.

I thought this forum was for possible solutions. I do have some tech knowledge just don't mess with it regularly. Was hoping for some possible issues and then try and be able to track them down without having to hire someone from outside to come troubleshoot. If anyone else has any possible fixes to the problem that'd be great. Here's what it says today.

Also, don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my Mozilla firefox stopped responding too. Sometimes it'll work sometimes it won't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled probably 2 or 3 times now. It seems to be a short fix then it reverts back to old problems. Thanks!

Okay throwing a bunch of ipconfig on a post won't resolve the issue, nor provide 'over a forum' something that can be the result. Let me provide a list here of possible causes:
- The router has blacklisted your MAC of your wifi
- The password for the network changed but no one told you
- The password you entered got corrupted / incorrect and would need to remove the entries, worst case having to alter your registry
- The Encryption on the network is using WAP2 this computer (which you haven't identified what it is or has in it) only capable of WAP (normal problem for XP users)
- The Encryption was changed to AES and your set to TKIP
- Update in your PC driver potentially did any of the above to your PC
- Malware installed is messing with your system
- Your hard drive is nearly full causing memory issues occassionally as there is no 'room' for the OS to work properly
- Your PC is very old and showing the first signs of imminent failure
- Power used at the Office is different then the one at Home, causing a surge / drop that convinces the computer to use power saving, which drops down the Wifi strength/performance
- Power settings on the PC are set to powersaving, the battery never removed and heavily degraded (why does my battery never fully charge anymore?) provides a 'false positive' that there isn't enough power in the system and implements power savings, dropping Wifi strength/performance
AND SO ON.

As you can see from one end (router) to the other (PC) can be any number of things for this specific situation.

...."Also, don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my Mozilla firefox stopped responding too. Sometimes it'll work sometimes it won't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled probably 2 or 3 times now. It seems to be a short fix then it reverts back to old problems."

My normal 'Basics' I suggest are as follows to ensure we both are talking / expecting the same results:

Download and run SPECCY, copy and paste the first tab to tell us fully what your computer is and your idle temps
Did you install all Windows Updates? Including options except BING?
Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update
Remove whatever Antivirus you have, go to www.filehippo.com and download AVAST! or AVG and do a full system scan
Download Malwarebytes do a full system scan (AV doesn't pick up alot of malware)

Then respond on each point on what the success is.

Got it!! Called my IT buddy and he gave me a couple of possible solutions. The one that worked for me was going into my saved networks (had about 30 of them saved) and deleting all of them except my actual home one. I then went downstairs and did a hard-reset(including back up battery) of the router. I then put in password of network after adding it again and wala!! Works again!! Appreciate the help and am glad it's back and going again!

Ahh so it was solution #3 on the entire list. But see no one could ever 'see' that from the forum or guess that one as the solution. All these are quicker to be realized by comparision between the systems and manual process (as you did) in front of the keyboard then trying to list every variable.
