it be better r&d on a 3 core instead of the cut quad core..

r&d 3 core and 6 core together instead of the save mantra of disabling or bot building a step down..

Honestly, I don't get it... how can developing and building a new 3 core die will benefit AMD?

They could put the time, money and efforts toward building better 6 or 8 cores instead that will have a real chance to match Intel's flagship ( wishful thinking )...

well if they want a 3 core and 6 core market share which AMD does, it stands to reason to actually put R&D into the platform instead of releasing handicapped chips in 4 core and 8 core to make a product for the 3 core and 6 core market...

though at present this is what AMD have done, to save cost they have modified a 4 core and 8 core chip to produce a 3 core and 6 core chip, while that method saves money for them initially, in the long run not having a true dedicated 3 core and 6 core platform harms their market share in this market..

dethsite2, AMD already have a true dedicated 6 core platform. As for the 3 core, I doubt if it will really be worth doing. Currently, it seems that AMD is not striving to fill out the demand for the PII X3 720BE since the Athlon II X3 is here.

You can still unlock Athlon II X3's into X4. It might hurt the true X4 demands but I think this is being balanced by the fact that people are buying AMD instead of Intel at this price range. So hurt a little but gain more by way of sales. And in any case, very small %age of people knows and purposely buy X3's for the sake of unlocking. Some buy it cause its more core and maybe they can not afford four cores.

people are going AMD because of price not because of function, buy a 3ghz cpu in amd then buy 1 im intel see which 1 everyone goes to..

as much as the US market is always cheaper when you start to look at other markets throughout the world AMD rains king for the cost and the power you get, now look at intel if you got the cash then look using intel cpu's which tend to be over rated and over priced..

until I see a proper 3 core or 6 core cpu I will not be buying 1 don't wanna see a .....chip which is based from either a 4 core or 8 core cpu..

Are you reading what I posted? AMD Thuban is a proper 6 core. What more are you looking for?
As for the true 3 core, dream on... I think you will wait forever...

@ drowned...wow. you say the i5 750 can be oc'ed to 4.4 GHz and beat the 1090T, yeah, well guess what, if the 1090T was oc'ed to 4.4, i think it would beat the 980x, but thats not fair. for one, you are comparing a 200$ oc'ed cpu, to a 300$ stock cpu...and why vote for AMD, one word, COMPETITION. if amd puts some pressure on intel, intel has to lower prices, and work harder for their share of the market. lower prices and better products equals a win for us, the buyer. and intel cpus dont have 2x the oc'ing headroom over amd, their 32nm can get an extra 200-300 MHz on amd, thats not 2x. and your point about "it take amd 2 extra cores and 400 extra MHz" is moot, cuz if amd can get a 6 core cpu for the same price as intels i7, then good for them, and even better since they perform evenly. your point makes NO sense at all.

Can anyone help me to reachout the problem why the mobo does not support core unlocking though this has unclocking feature? Does the mentioned mobo not support unlocking? it has that option it is BIOS. And how i can find that whether this mobo support Advanced clocking or Turbo clock?

Please gimme a solution.
