Hi,

I just ordered the MegaScenery Pacific Northwest package, and now I'm
wondering if there will be any conflict with my Orcas Island
Georender scenery from FSAddon? If anyone here has both of those
sceneries, I'd appreciate your comments with regards to them playing
well together...or not.

I didn't have any trouble, although I install all add-on scenery in
separate folders and prioritize them as seems appropriate. I believe,
however, that the author states something to the effect that "This
product was developed to work with the default MS mesh and that use of
higher resolution mesh may have unexpected consequences." (Sorry if I'm
misquoting -- that's from memory.) That seems unfortunate as most
serious flight sim'ers have higher res mesh.

Yes, there are a few conflicts between the Orcas Island scenery and my
current FSGenesis 38m mesh for the area; mostly of the anti-gravity
water sort. It is unfortunate that the problem is "caused" by the
introduction of more accurate mesh! 🙂

If I can get the two sceneries working together as Rob described, even
with the occasional mesh conflict, I'm looking forward to some
overall improvement in the western WA landscape.

I found that georenders Orcas Island disapeared after I installed
Megascenery. I found this unusual as all my other Georenders were still
visible. The only way I could rectify the situation was by uninstalling
Georenders Orcas Island and manually removing it's entry from FS9's
Scenery.cfg file. Once removed run up FS9 so that it can rebuild it's
scenery database. Once this is complete, close FS9 and reinstall Orcas
Island and hey presto it works!!!!

My only caveat is that I think you end up with Georenders textures and
buildings, but Megasceneries elevations which don't precisely match.
However, its worth doing as you will end up with a super detailed Orcas
Island surreounded by other satellite imaged islands.

Did you try to manually change the priorities in the scenery.cfg file first?

Sounds like maybe you should have juggled the position of your
sceneries up or down to cure that problem, in the scenery menu of FS9

I have found Orcas Island to be very sensitive to any scenery.cfg
changes. Any change will creat double scenery.cfg entries, effectivly
raising the place to the ground. Now it's at the point where if I plan
to fly there, I start a flight there to see if it still exists :)
Interestingly this phenonomae (spelling) has carried through to the
groups other release (Harvey/Monroe)

The publishers don't have any explanation for it either unfortunately.
