[SOLVED] Melted cable

Hey,
My computer stopped working recently, and when I opened it up, I found a melted cable (see images). Is there anything I can aside from buy a new motherboard and psu? And if not, anything I can do to stop this from happening again?

Specs:
Motherboard: ASRock b450
Psu: EVGA 400w
System fans:default fans with the Nzxt 510 case

Possible reasons, a short in MB or something plugged in it or too much power drawn from weak PSU. Either way MB is screwed. What CPU and GPU do you have ?
Check everything connected to MB and next time get a PSU with more power.

Thanks. I have a Radeon RX 580 and an AMD Ryzen 2700

Yeah, that conncetor and socket look fried on two pins at least. New mobo required.

As @CountMike mentioned, a weak PSU has the potential to fry a system. A 500w is recommended for the 580, and if you were doing any OC'ing at all, your current PSU would not be up to the task. Subsequently seems to have blown and taken mobo with it.

Also, just a note. Whilst more power (wattage) can offset some issues, buying a PSU is really all about quality as opposed to power rating. You can have an 850w psu, but if it's of poor quality, is as likely to fail as any weak PSU will.

Getting a decent Gold rated unit, of about 550w like an EVGA GA or Corsair TXM/RM/RMx are all good options.
