Question Melted pcie cable

I recently had a melted pcie cable and was on support with MSI and the representative told me that if the GPU side melts it's the PSU but if both sides melt it's the GPU I was hoping someone with a little more knowledge could give me some information on that

i have a x570 AORUS ELITE motherboard cpu is a 5700x gpu is a msi gaming trio 3070ti and power supply is a Thermaltake tough power 850w

On which GPU did cable melt?

Did it melt to the GPU or the PSU?

I recently had a PCI-e Power Connector melt to my PSUs connection, it was the one that I had pigtailed into my GPU (Both connections on one cable plugged into GPU ((3080ti))) If youre in the same boat as I was, I assume the GPU pulled too much through that one connection and melted it.

It melted on the GPU side the GPU support said it was the PSU because it only melted one side then the PSU support said it can happen to any power supply and didn't have any reasoning so I just got new cables
