Hi everyone!
I'm a total noob tinkering on my first build and I feel like adding some more memory since I'm going to start working on creating some pretty heavy renders in the close future.

In my motherboard's QVL, I can see the memory card combination I've currently got running (KINGSTON KHX24C11T2K2/8X(XMP) 8GB (2x4GB)). Does this combination existing on the list mean that I can safely just buy another kit of these 2x4GB and connect them to the motherboard, or should I look at 16GB combinations if I want to upgrade to that?

Thanks for your time and patience!

Oh, sure just get another identical kit.

I thought you meant you were looking at getting another 16GB as an option in addition to the 8GB you already had.
Usually you want all sticks identical, however if you want to get 24GB installed you'll have to get a different kit.

If you get a different kit, make sure the following match:
1) frequency, and
2) CAS

In your case I'm guessing 2400MHz CAS11. However there is no guarantee you won't have issues. Run MEMTEST to be certain.

Another option would be to SELL your memory and get a 32GB kit instead such as a 4x8GB 1866MHz CAS9 kit.

Hm, I'm not sure if I might have formulated my question fuzzy or something but what I'm asking is basically if I can assume that a setup of 4x4GB of the KINGSTON KHX24C11T2K2/8X(XMP) for 16GB would work since 2x4GB of that card works.

Does that make any sense?

Get another set, even the same identical model, might or might not work, when you buy a package of 4 sticks those are tested to all work together, where if you buy 2 sets of 2 sticks - No guarantees...thats why the 4 stick package normally costs a little more than 2 sets of 2, it's not easy to pull 4 sticks that will all play together. Always best to get a single package of the full amount you want
