Hey.

I bought a computer and I will have this motherboard:

http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7s5a.html .

It comes with 256mb sdram and obviously im replacing this junk with new memory.
Within my balance I can purchase either 1gb pc1600 DDR or 512 pc2100 DDR.

What you guys think will perform better?
And im using the computer for games :).

Thanks alot.

Sort of depends, what kind of processor are you putting in there? Also why the slower 1 gig chip, in my area, there isn't much price between the different speeds (usually a few dollars).

Honestly even on a machine running Windows XP, 512 MB ram is enough for gaming. The only real reason you might need more for gaming is real heavy LAN games. I used 512 MB 2100 in my gaming machine up until about a month ago. I never had any problems, ran all the latest games out in 1280x1024 full graphics (TI4600 Video card).

I think if your processor is going to have the 266 bus speed, you may benifit more from the faster memory. And honestly I don't think my system ever really uses all of the gig I have.
