will 8-16gb of 2400mhz ram run fine on my set up?
thinking Gskill trident X 2400
or
kingston hyperx predator 2400

my system specs
MSI z77a-gd55 mobo (rated for up to 2800 mhz on ram)
i7 3770k @ 4.2ghz cpu
samsung 840 evo 250gb ssd
2tb raid hdd 7200rpm (2x 1tb drives)
2x R9 270x CF
roswill lightning 1000watt psu

basicly just wanting to know if my cpu will run these speeds if i get them. i know the MOBO is capable already. just a little uncertain with the rest. and not sure if i need to OC the CPU more to make the memory run at stated speeds?

Solution
You have a good RAM, no need to upgrade it. Going to 1600mhz from 1333mhz makes big difference. But going further from 1600mhz don't have major difference. You OCed it and it is good thing. It is best, no need to upgrade. :)

No no, I know Intel has tell that only 1600mhz RAM is compatible in their specs. Your CPU is good enough to handle 2400mhz RAM, it can support 3000 mhz RAM as well. Don't worry, it will straightforward work with your cpu, no need to oc.
I will recommend the Gskill. It has good quality chips. Good luck. :)

oh also do you know if there is any performance differences going from 1600mhz to 2400mhz or greater? i keep reading there isn't much performance gains. and i know my ram i have now out benchmarks some of the DDR4 memory on passmark performance test. (i know it's not the greatest or recommended bench tool) just the only one i can find that i can compare with other ram.

but the ram i have now is
Mushkin advanced Redline 16gb 2x8gb 1600mhz and scores 2927 over all points with 21.7ns latency when OC'ed to 1866mhz 9-9-9-27.
