Hello all, I have tried looking on forums everywhere (here,Overclock.net, etc) for a solution, but it seems I'll have to post a question directly.

I currently have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 Revision running at 3GHz on an ASROCK P45TS, with 1GB Corsair XMS2 800MHz DDR2 RAM.
I can get it to work fine with the above setup, but as I'm looking to have a PC that doesn't slow down (in fact, it's a little slow as I type this), I was thinking to utilise the DDR3 capabilities of the P45TS.

The problem is that it doesn't provide an output signal when I put the 4GB 1333MHz RAM in, there is just a blank screen.
I've tinkered with FSB to 333MHz, so it should be able to interact with it. (Though it doesn't help that I can't tinker with DDR3 settings when a DDR2 module is installed)

Any help would be appreciated as it reduce a lot of stress on my end. If needed, I can supply pics too.

I know that (though I haven't bothered to research why), I take out the DDR2, put the DDR3 into its slot, and there is no signal. The board is supposedly compatible with it, and unless I've done my calculations wrong, a 333MHz FSB should be able to work with the DDR3. Any thoughts?

Looking at this i guess that you are using a 1x4gb stick.Try putting it in the green slot closest to the cpu.

If that doesn't work try to do a clear cmos either by moving the right jumper for a few secconds or by removing the motherboard battery for about a half hour, with the last option the pc must really be without current,so putting the psu switch at "0" and taking the powerkabel out of the wallsocket.
Look for the right jumper in the motherboard manual.
After a clear cmos you might and probably will have to adjust the time and date in the bios,be sure to check that.
After doing that see if it works.

Looking closer at your first post it says that you have your cpu running at 3ghz which means you have overclocked it,this also will have an impact on the speed of the ram,so maybe that's why it will not work.Clearing the cmos will undo that overclock!

Another thing that comes to mind,do you have the latest bios?
If not try installing this too.It might get rid of some incompatibilities regarding the ram.

Thanks for the tips, I'll come back tomorrow with the results. I believe I tried updating the BIOS, but that led to Win 7 not turning on properly.

I think I've found my problem, my RAM's CAS latency is slower than the minimum on the motherboard.
If I knew this 3 months ago, I could've saved myself money, time, and stress.
*Sigh*
Once again, thanks for the help.

Do you mean lower? And where did you find that info?
You could of course adjust the cas latency or any other timing in the bios.

The RAM I have is rated at CL9, while the RAM I was looking at had a latency of CL7. But there is compatible RAM (from www.asrock.com/mb/memory/P45TS.pdf) that is at 1333mhz at CL9. However I am told by my more knowledgeable friend that some older motherboards were just finicky in their RAM compatibilities.
But this would be the only thing that is holding me back before I can definitely say it is the motherboard at fault.

Which is that?

Which is that?

You start this thread with that you can't make your pc work with ddr3 ram,now you're talking about two different sets...?

The DDR3 RAM (which isn't working with my machine at the moment) I have tried to use has a latency of 9, whereas the DDR3 RAM I was looking at (which is on the motherboard manufacturer's compatible RAM list) had a latency of 7. Although there are modules at 1333MHz with a latency of 9, it might be that the current RAM is too new. I'll find out if this is the case in a week or so.
I asked for any help, whether in regards to the possibility of me doing something wrong, or that I have missed another factor that is keeping my machine from working fully.
I have yet to try adjusting the latency in the BIOS with a DDR3 module, but I just want this machine to work, really.

I can't think of a reason why ram with a latency of 9 wouldn't work on your motherboard. What you could try is adjusting the speed of the ddr3 to 1066 and lower the latency's,that might just work.

What brand and type of ddr3 1333 ram did you buy anyway?
