Memory on Gateway mx6450 and Windows 10

I installed Windows 10 on an old Gateway MX6450, the system had 1 gig of memory. Install went well computer properties showed 1 gig. I removed the 2 sticks of 512 megs of memory and added 2 sticks of 1 gig of memory. Properties show the 2 gigs but says only one gig is usable. Windows 10 is the 32 bit version. Why is only 1 of 2 gigs usable and how do I get the second gig used on the system.

Okay, I asked my question to soon, after sending it I found my answer. The problem was my configuration. At boot I was using all my memory, I unchecked the box and all memory is now used.
