memory problem... please help....

whenever i turn on my comp., a message flashes..." your computer has memory problems... please contact the computer manufacturer for details.."
i tried running the windows memory diagnoistic utiliy.. and it says " hardware problems detected.. plz contact computer manufacturer for details.."
my config is:

e6400 @ 2.13 ghz
asus p5w dh deluxe mobo
ram : (1) kingston 1gb (800 mhz)
(2) kingston 512 mb (800 ghz)
(3) transcend 512 mb (800 mhz)
nvidia 7900 gs
seagate 250 gb (7200 rpm)
os: windows vista ultimate

please help..
 
Which slots do you actually have the memory in? Make sure you have the 2 512 meg sticks in installed as a bank,(in the 2 orange slots) and the 1 gig stick installed in the other bank. (one of the black slots) You will not be able to run dual channel mode with 3 sticks though. If you have them installed correctly, try downloading and running memtest.

I agree memtest (86) is essential. If your system passes memtest its probably ok.

I suspect your problems arise from the different memory. If memtest fails try each module on its own. If they are ok JITPublisher makes a good point on banks. Also some of the latencies need to be increased to use two modules on a channel. Disable timing by spd.
