So i have a 32gb kit of Corsair Vengeance RGB 3466mhz (not pro) and i saw that my ram is running at Cl23 is there a way to fix that
Automatic timings will either set the standard default speed of 2133 CL15 or run at the CPUs ram spec of 2400 and maybe CL17. Manually setting the timings may bypass any issues with using XMP. You won't destroy your ram by manually setting it and the worst that will happen is you may have to reset the bios to defaults to fix any issues with bad timings. You shouldn't need more than 1.35.https://prnt.sc/yc7pmk so there is the specs of my computer if you want to look at them but yeah the timings say 23 23 24 57 so i guess i could try to adjust the clock speed itself but do i have the change the timings if i keep them automatic is it a possibility they could go to what the ram says they should be at?
4x8 or 2x16GB ? That can make difference as well as MB, BIOS and even CPU. What are specs for it with XMP ?So i have a 32gb kit of Corsair Vengeance RGB 3466mhz (not pro) and i saw that my ram is running at Cl23 is there a way to fix that
I asked about memory frequency with XMP; You can find that in CPU-Z.its 4x8 i have a i7 6850k clocked at 4.2 ghz and the bios says the timings are supposed to be 16-18-18-36 but there 23-23-24-56 instead and my bios version is from 2016 i tried to update it but that just ended up me having to reset the cmos
Post the rest of your specs. There might be something about your motherboard the prevents certain memory settings from working.its 4x8 i have a i7 6850k clocked at 4.2 ghz and the bios says the timings are supposed to be 16-18-18-36 but there 23-23-24-56 instead and my bios version is from 2016 i tried to update it but that just ended up me having to reset the cmos

What slots are you installing your modules? The manual for the motherboard states to install a single module in every odd numbered slot per channel. So it should be DIMM 1/3/5/7.and Third-Eye

Have you tried manually adjusting the timings or using Memory Try it? I think there should be at least two settings for 3466 and one should be cl16-18-18-18 and the other would be cl-18-20-20-20. You currently have your ram set to 3400. You might want to try a 3200 settings instead of 3466. There is also the possibility that the automatic setting is not setting voltage to 1.35, but CPU-Z won't show DIMM voltage. You will need HWInfo64 to show the DIMM voltage from the Sensors Monitoring button.Yeah i have it in 1 3 5 7
in the bios it says the timings are 16 18 18 36 but when i check in software it says 23 23 24 57
oh never mind i have them in 1 3 6 8 could that be wayHave you tried manually adjusting the timings or using Memory Try it? If you had the modules in the wrong slots it could be part of the issue.oh never mind i have them in 1 3 6 8 could that be way
That's what it's set now, need Memory tab. Even better look it up with Thaiphoon Burner http://www.softnology.biz/ will give you more data about memory capabilities.https://pasteboard.co/JMODvrd.png that should take you to a picture of my memory stuff and my memory runs at 3400mhz
i found out that the slots i have them in are the correct slots but i also have another questions if i were to somehow find a fix would the performance gain be worth itIf you had the modules in the wrong slots it could be part of the issue.
As it is now, 3400 CL23 is almost as bad as running default standard JEDEC spec of 2133 CL15.i found out that the slots i have them in are the correct slots but i also have another questions if i were to somehow find a fix would the performance gain be worth it
like is it even worth my time to try to get the timings right?
should i try memory try it on msi motherboard that is safe right because im just overly cautious now because when i tried to update my bios it almost broke everything (im being a little dramatic) but you get the point im just nervous to change settings nowAs it is now, 3400 CL23 is almost as bad as running default standard JEDEC spec of 2133 CL15.
If you can get even just 3200 CL16 to work, you could potentially gain 10-12fps depending on the game. Some games may see as much as 20fps increase. I would try to get either 3200 CL14 to work or the rated 3466 spec.
If the four modules are not from a single kit, you might not even reach 3466 CL16-18-18-18-36, so 3200 CL14/CL15/CL16 are your next best options that should work.
ok so when i click on Memory try it is just gives me options like Samsung or microx somthing like that but i lowered the ram speed to 3200mhz but it just lowered the cl to 22As it is now, 3400 CL23 is almost as bad as running default standard JEDEC spec of 2133 CL15.

Disable memory try it and see what it gives for default ram settings.ok so when i click on Memory try it is just gives me options like Samsung or microx somthing like that but i lowered the ram speed to 3200mhz but it just lowered the cl to 22
well i never turned on memory try it, it made no sense to me its not what it looked like in updated bios so i just left it alone. I just dont understand because my bios says its 16-18-18-36 but windows says otherwiseDisable memory try it and see what it gives for default ram settings.
should i disable XMP and just put the 3400mhz insteadDisable memory try it and see what it gives for default ram settings.
Manually inputting at least the primary timings, speed and voltage may work better than trying XMP, because XMP doesn't always work. Leave all other timings on automatic.should i disable XMP and just put the 3400mhz instead

You should run userbenchmark to see if it reveals any other possible issues, then post the webpage link for the results. If userbenchmark shows the correct timings, download HWInfo to double check the ram timings, because CPU-Z could possibly just be reporting the timings incorrectly. If the timings are still reported as CL23, you should run memtest86 for at least one full pass of the automatic four pass test to see if you get any errors.
It's possible the ram is just not compatible with the motherboard for some reason and you may need to get a different kit.

Manually set voltage to 1.35v, 3466 or 3400, CL 16, tRCDRD-18, tRCDWR-18, tRP-18, tRAS-36, tRC-56 and leave tRFC on automatic, but change it to 448 if it's higher. If that doesn't work, drop the speed to 3200 and try again. This is just to see if you can get it working at these settings
Once again thank you for all your help it turns out even though I had xmp turned on where you would put in the timings it was put to 23 23 24 57 but I put it to 16 18 18 36 448 so everything should be working how its supposed to nowAutomatic timings will either set the standard default speed of 2133 CL15 or run at the CPUs ram spec of 2400 and maybe CL17.
