I want to upgrade the memory in my Gateway sx2370-ur13. It currently has a single 4gb stick (see details below).

I found a good price on "Crucial RAM 8GB Kit (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz CL11 Desktop Memory CT2K51264BD160B." It appears that this is compatible with my PC, at least if I remove the 4GB existing and only use 1 8gb upgrade kit. Does anyone know if:

  1. I can use quantity 2 of these 8gb kits to get 16gb?
  2. I can use quantity 1 of these 8gb kits with the existing 4gb to get 12gb?
  3. Will any of these configurations run dual channel?
  4. Does voltage matter?

CPU-Z reports that the memory module in slot #1 (3 other slots empty) is "a Hyundai Electronics HMT451U6AFR8C-PB 4gb PC3-12800."

More detailed information about the existing 4GB memory from CPU-Z is:

1-maybe.
2-maybe.
3-maybe.
4-it should auto set.

You won't know until you try it.
Ddr3 is a bit more forgiving.
Might be a good idea to update the bios and test before updating the ram.
