I had so many problems with this build in the past few weeks that I am considering never building myself again. My last few weeks of college summer vacation and I am spending them fixing my computer 🙁 - if I can't get it fixed in the next day or two I will be taking it to a local guy to look at. I would still appreciate any and all help you awesome guys (and gals) out there can give.
My thread on Overclock.net is here. I have been troubleshooting with those guys but they seem to have gone quiet and I was hoping to increase my chances of getting help
. Basically I am getting problems to what I isolated to the RAM (after replacing my power supply). Replacing the RAM with my old 2GB stick got it to boot past "Loading Windows" and was rock hard stable for over a day before the new RAM got in (which also loaded and at first seemed completely stable). 3-4 hours later:
I have received two BSOD's. Unfortunately I was not there and the person using the computer can't even remember what they were doing. When I first started the machine up with the new RAM it wanted me to run a chckdsk due to the C drive being a dirty volume but I didn't have time the first couple of restarts. When I finally let it do its thing it fixed a crapload of stuff so maybe it corrupted Windows trying to fix things?
Also to note I have my RAM running in slots 2 and 3 (4 slots total), would that be a problem? Should I move it to 1 and 3 or 2 and 4?
BSOD

Prime95 runs without issue on all modes except in one circumstance where I did get a BSOD on shutdown when I was turning it off for bed. I was dumb and tired and force shut it off before the dump was complete so I don't have a log for that crash. Games run fine and today the system has been off and on (doing different tests) for a little over an hour without a problem. Maybe I fixed it with what I have done?
What I Have Done
Set all NVIDIA driver services back on - I had the update service disabled
Prime95 - Works great until I shut it down
1/2 Pass in Memtest86 - No errors and I plan on trying it again later this morning
Stepped ration down to 1:4
Underclocked CPU to bring RAM and CPU frequencies down
Set RAM Voltage to Auto
2nd Windows Check Disk - No errors
sfc /scannow - "Windows Resource Protection did not find and integrity violations."
