Memtest not working correctly

Solution
Your screen shot shows MemTest86+ V5.0.1.
Which isn't the most recent and the "+" version of MemTest isn't being maintained at the moment. Try V6.0 instead.
While it might be bad RAM, my guess is that V5 incorrectly parses the memory map on your laptop and then overwrites areas of memory it shouldn't be touching, causing the display corruption.

Unfortunately I only have the one stick of RAM, but I have downloaded a fresh, and the most recent, version of Memtest, which has produced the same result. I'm thinking I may just bite the bullet and upgrade my RAM while I'm at it, but my concern is that it may be a MOBO issue rather than the RAM itself. I have been having several issues with BSOD Memory Management - all showed the ntoskrnl as the source of the problem when the crash dumps were viewed in Bluescreen View.

Any suggestions on what may, aside from the RAM (as I think I will just replace that regardless), be causing the issue? My next step is a full boot time scan and a checkdisk for bad sectors.
