Recently I built a new PC and everything was going great, until I noticed that my mic wasn't bringing audio through anything that I was using. When I listen to the device, all I hear is static. The headset is not broken because I plugged it into my phone and used it and it worked well. I've tried installing the audio drivers that my motherboard recommends me use, and still nothing happens.

Relevant info:
-windows 10
-motherboard X470
-most recent realtek audio drivers installed
-most recent nahimic version installed

Solution

Most headsets which work with phones use a combo headphone+mic port. A single connector which carries both left and right audio, and the microphone.

Most PCs use separate ports for the headphones and mic. One for left/right audio (headphones). One for the microphone. To use a single-plug style headset with a PC, you need a Y-adapter.
